A substrate serves as a base for germinating seeds, rooting propagules or for an already rooted plant to grow. A substrate can consist of a single material or be the result of a mixture of organic, mineral or synthetic materials.<\/p>\n<p>Just like soil, it is essential to know the capacity of a substrate to
